The Problem
ROAD DAMAGE IS
MORE THAN AN
INCONVENIENCE.
Safety
Potholes can create dangerous conditions for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Sudden swerving to avoid a pothole may cause collisions, and hitting one at speed can lead to loss of control.
Vehicle Damage
Repeated exposure to potholes can damage tires, wheels, suspension components, and other vehicle systems, leading to costly repairs and premature wear.
Maintenance
Road authorities need accurate information to prioritize inspections and repairs. Without reliable data, resources may be misallocated and dangerous potholes left unaddressed.
Data Gap
Traditional road inspection can be time-consuming and difficult to perform continuously. There is often a lack of real-time, comprehensive data about road conditions.

Across 80 potholes identified on four pre-testing road sections in Camarines Norte — Daet–Jose Panganiban, San Lorenzo–San Vicente, Labo Centro–Mabilo 1, and Fundado–Bakiad Labo — AXIOM detected 94.19% of potholes correctly and recorded GPS for 96.25% of detections.
Compared with manual methods, AXIOM cut GPS-recording time by ~98% and work-order generation time by 83% — freeing maintenance crews to focus on repair instead of paperwork.
An acceptability survey of 25 respondents (5 civil engineers, 5 web developers, 5 IT specialists, and 5 LGU road personnel) rated the system 4.00 / 4.00 (Agree) across functionality, stability, performance, usability, reliability, and maintainability.
